FAQ

How do I get started?

Open the extension and select your native language. Then go to Settings and enter your Gemini or OpenAI API key. Once saved, highlight any text on a webpage and select Translate or Explain.

Where do I get an API key?

For Gemini, sign in to Google AI Studio and click "Get API key". A free tier is available with no credit card required. For OpenAI, sign in to platform.openai.com and create a new secret key.

Is my API key safe?

Yes. Your API key is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage and is never sent to our servers. All AI requests go directly from your browser to the AI provider you selected.

The translation isn't showing up. What should I check?

Make sure your API key is entered correctly in Settings and that the correct AI provider is selected. If you're using Gemini, ensure your key is valid and the free tier quota hasn't been exceeded.
